Terrance (Terry) Hallagan, age 90, devoted husband of the late Kay Hallagan, nee Malatesta, and beloved father of twelve. He was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on August 24, 1926, to John & Mary Hallagan, loving brother of Eileen, Joyce & Clare. He graduated from Iowa State University, moved to Chicago, and met the love of his life. They married in 1949. Terry started his career selling typewriters and bravely started his own business in May of 1961. Hallagan Business continues to prosper with the next generation. Terry & Kay saw the world together, visiting every state and every continent except Antarctica. Terry, truly a generous man, gave from his heart and made lifelong friends. Family, faith and friendship served as pillars to his life.

Terry was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Kay, and his dear son, Terry. He leaves behind his extensive loving family: Mary Lin & Jim Yoshimura, Peggy & Steve McCormick, John & Pat Hallagan, Jimmy & Annamaria Hallagan, Maureen Hallagan & Steve Tarnoff, Robert & Patty Hallagan, Cathy & Gary Maassen, Joannie Hallagan, Colleen Hallagan & Bob Zientarski, Deanna Hallagan & the late Eric Lentz, and Laura & Tim Noonan. Terry’s fondly remembered by his 35 grandchildren: Jason & Natalie Yoshimura, Kevin & Angela McCormick, Marjorie & Pat Filice, Luo Yao & Sia Hei Yeung, Daniel McCormick, Jean Marie & Thomas Hochheim, Kristen & Kyle Kreuser, Sasha & Matt Long, Jeffery Hallagan, Matt Hallagan, Olivia Hallagan, Rachel Tarnoff, Jessica Tarnoff & Matt Ceisel, Zachary Tarnoff, Michael Hallagan, Megan & Ryan Brandt, Eileen & Steve Kirk, Erin Maassen, David Maassen & Christine Newton, Joey Maassen & Elizabeth Novak, Emily Maassen, Joshua & Erika Solomon, Allie Soloman, William Schejbal, Annie Schejbal, Abby Schejbal, Eleanor Schejbal, Katie Paustian, Grace Zientarski, Sarah Lentz, Patrick Lentz, Miles Lentz, Terry Noonan, Brian Noonan, and Norah Noonan. Terry’s 20 great-grandchildren include: Haiji, Reina, Akira, Kenzo, Vincent, Rosie, Eva, Mario, Tessa, Charlie, Avery, Audrey, Cameron, Bella, Angelina, Jack, Isla, Bobby, Liliana, and Ricky.

Terry will be greatly missed. He lived his life well, and as he said many times, “I’ve had a beautiful life.”

Visitation, Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 3 to 8 p.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie, Illinois. Funeral, Monday, June 26, at 10:15 a.m., from the funeral home, for Mass, 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, Skokie. Interment, All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rustic Falls Nature Camp, 8044 Karlov Ave., Skokie, IL, 60076.
