December 24, 1897***********
Walter Ernest, son of W. W. Laird and wife, died Tuesday afternoon. The boy was 11 years of age, and has been an invalid all his life. The immediate cause of death was a complication of troubles which have proved an affliction for the few short years of his life. He had a spinal trouble which crippled him but the tenderest care of the parents’ hearts made his burdens as easy to bear as possible and his death is none the less sorrowful to his parents, except in his removal from pain and sorrow. The parents will have the deepest sympathy in the affliction. The funeral occurred in Fort Dodge, his former home.
