Randy Michael Purcell was born November 10, 1958 in Iowa City, Iowa. The youngest son of Jean (Jarshaw) Purcell. He excelled at playing sports at Goldfield High School, playing baseball and basketball, graduating in 1977. After high school he continued his love of sports, playing slow-pitch softball, golf, and playing corn hole (bags). Randy met Pam Passow in 1983 and had a long relationship with her. His daughter Lindsey was born in 1984 and she still resides in Fort Dodge. Randy was a huge NY Yankee fan and collected Yankee memorabilia. Randy was also an even bigger Hawkeye fan. On January 23, 1999 Randy married Kris Smith, to this union were born Allison and Austin Purcell of Eagle Grove, Iowa. Survivors include brothers Ron (Sharon) of Des Moines, Dan (Karen) of Clear Lake, Tim (Lynnda) of Clarion and sister Carol of New Sharon. Also many nieces and nephews. Randy is preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Jean Purcell and a niece Sarah Purcell.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Randy Purcell on Sunday, June 11 from 1-3 p.m. at Oakridge in Goldfield. The event is open to the public. The family will be having a private burial in advance of the Celebration of Life.
