Shirley Maxine (Caquelin) Sorensen Campbell, the daughter of Henry and Cecile (Sadler) Caquelin, was born on December 28, 1928, on the family farm east of Woolstock, Iowa. She attended country school for 8 years and graduated from Woolstock High School in 1947. After graduation, Shirley worked for F. W. Woolworth and Fred Hayne Printing Services in Webster City.

On January 20, 1950, Shirley was united in marriage with Lynn A. Sorensen and they made their home on a farm near Goldfield. To this union, three children were born, Lynnda, Penny and Dan. In 1968, Shirley started working at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion as a operating room technician and nursing assistant, retiring after 24 years to take care of Lynn. Lynn passed away in June of 1992. Shirley remained on the farm with her son Dan taking over the farming operation. On July 14, 1996, Shirley married Joe Campbell and moved to Clarion. Joe passed away in April of 2008.

Shirley was a member of the Clarion and Goldfield United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was very gifted and creative and loved to paint, color, make teddy bears, suckers and many other crafts. She also enjoyed clogging with her group and performed at many events. Shirley's greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, in which she got to spend time with.

Shirley passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Clarion Wellness and Rehab Center, at the age of 88 years surrounded by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lynn Sorensen and Joe Campbell; daughter, Lynnda J. (Sorensen) Abels; six brothers: Louis, Maynard, Bud, Gene, Tom and John; brother-in-law, Ivan Hoffman and sister-in-law, Ruth Caquelin. Shirley is survived by her children, Penny Dorris (Marc) of Altoona and Dan Sorensen (Diane) of Clarion; grandchildren: Jerome Abels (Tammy) of Altoona, Leslie Soulis (Steve) of Altoona, Caia Abels of Altoona, Ryan Romsey (Grace) of Santa Cruz, CA, Keaton Walker (Larissa) of Mitchellville; Gabe Fiscus (Megan) of Goldfield and Jody Johnson (Darren) of Clarion; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, JoAnn Biggs (Melvin) of Webster City and Phyllis Hoffman of Rudy, AR; sister-in-law, Ellen Caquelin of Webster City; step-sons, Brian Campbell of Minnesota and Craig Campbell of Wisconsin; step-grandchildren, Ashley Campbell of Wisconsin, Jordan Campbell of Wisconsin and Marc K. Dorris of Irvin, CA and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 11:00 a.m. at the Goldfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn C. Gardner, officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
