December 15, 1921 ---- May 7, 2017

Marjorie Mae Norris was born December 15, 1921 in or near Goodell, Iowa. Her parents were Ray and Edna Norris. She graduated from Rowan Community High School. She married Lewis Harold Cross on May 17, 1941 and they were blessed with four boys, Michael, Galyn, Neil, and Douglas. Marj and Harold farmed near Dows, Iowa except for one year near Clarion, Iowa. In addition to taking care of Harold, the chickens, garden and four rambunctious boys, Marj worked at the egg plant in Alexander and then at Farmland Foods near Iowa Falls, Iowa. Marj loved music, played the piano by ear, and enjoyed going dancing with Harold. She was an avid card player, particularly playing 500. She and Harold belonged to several card clubs. She loved to beat Harold, whose family members were aggressive card players. She was active in her church and passed that legacy to her sons.
After Marjorie and Harold were both retired they wintered in Weslaco, Texas, where they both became active in the "snowbird" activities and organizations. She continued to winter in Texas after Harold died, until she was unable to care for herself. She became a resident at Franklin Country View Care Center next to the Franklin General Hospital.

Marjorie died on May 7, 2017 at the Country View Care Center in Hampton at the age of 95 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis Harold Cross, and her siblings, Merlyn Norris, Lorraine Baines, Bonnie Didio, Maribeth Boyington, and Richard Norris. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Evelyn), Galyn, Neil (Cheryl), and Douglas (Rebecca), twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and two brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all, but we know she is now happy to be with her husband and our Father in heaven. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Dows United Methodist Church in Dows, Iowa.
