Doris Irene (Scott) Coke was born on October 25, 1922, to M.S. “Ell” and Helen Poundstone Scott in Walnut Grove, MN. She passed peacefully at Carmel Hills Care Center in Independence, MO on May 7, 2017. Visitation will be 10:00am to 11:00am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am, Wednesday, May 10th, at Charter Funerals, 5000 Blue Ridge Cutoff. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, IA on Thursday at 2:00pm. In the mid 1930’s the family moved to Clarion where she graduated from high school with the class of 1940. She lived most of her adult life in and around Kansas City, MO. She was united in marriage to William E. Coke on February 24, 1969. She retired in 1983 after working for Safeway Food Stores for 26 years. Doris is survived by her loving husband Bill, nieces Beth Harker, Clarion; Janine Hebner, Rogers, MN; and Martha VerMulm, Urbandale, IA; and nephews Wayne Scott, Camarillo, CA; Howard Scott, Newport News, VA; and David Scott, Jackson, MS; and many great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eldon, Howard, Wayne and Don and an infant son. Doris will be greatly missed by all.
