Sena Sliekers Schaeferle

April 19, 1893 ---- August 25, 1982

Graveside services for Mrs. Sena Schaeferle were held at Rose Hill Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 28. The Rev. Kenneth Reiter of the United Church of Christ was the officiating clergy. Mrs. Schaeferle, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 25 at the Villa del Sol Nursing Center in Marshalltown where she had resided since September, 1980. Services were held on Friday, Aug. 27, 1982 at the Estel-Perrin Chapel in Marshalltown with the Rev. Charles Fry of the Garwin Christian Church officiating.

Sena was born April 19, 1893 in Orange City, a daughter of Arden and Alice Van Engen Slickers. She and Martin F. Schaeferle were married at Orange Grove October 3, 1910. They lived in Havelock and Jewell Junction and for 30 years at Eagle Grove. She was a member of the Garwin Christian Church, United Church of Christ at Eagle Grove and was a former member of the Eastern Star. Surviving Mrs. Schaeferle are Dr. Martin Schaeferle, former Eagle Grove doctor for many years, and now of Chapel Hill, N.C., and another son, Dr. L. G. Schaeferle of Union Grove Lake, Gladbrook. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Henrietta Jorgensen of Villa del Sol. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
