Betty Darlene Billings (Hefty), age 89, formerly of Belton, MO went to be with our Lord Dec. 31, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted Living in O.P. KS. Visitation Sat. Jan. 7 at 9 a.m. Service 10 a.m., burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Alzheimer's Assoc.

Betty was born Aug. 22, 1927 in LuVerne, IA to Henry C. and Mildred A. (Rummens) Hefty. Betty was raised on a farm in Hardy IA, graduating from Vernon Consolidated School in 1944. She was married June 6, 1948 in Mason City IA to Lyle L. Billings. Working in Mason City, IA, moved to K.C. in 1952. With a strong work ethic, Betty raised 6 children, retired from the I.R.S. with over 20 yrs service. Betty made her own wedding gown. She loved God and was a charter member and Sunday school teacher at Longview United Methodist Church. Betty was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed related outdoor activities such as camping and fishing. She was an excellent cook for her beloved family. She and Lyle loved to travel, visiting all but one of the 50 states, as well as Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, Germany, and France.

Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lyle Billings, a sister and 4 brothers. Left to cherish her memory include 2 sisters and 1 brother; her children, Linda, Lonnie, Susie, Janice, Donna, and Lisa; 15 grandchildren, 36 great- grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.
