February 24, 1894 ---- August 10, 1972

Glen A. Porter, son of Austin and Elizabeth Kail Porter, was born February 24, 1894, in Lopgootee, Indiana, where he spent his early childhood on the farm and attended the Martin County Schools. On March 26, 1913 he was united in marriage to Mary Elsie Wildman in the Church of Christ in Loogootee, the church in which he was baptized, and has remained a member throughout his lifetime. To this union seven children were born. The family moved to Iowa in 1917 and farmed West of Eagle
Grove several years before moving to the farm, near Vincent where they made their home until his retirement in 1958. Mr. and Mrs. Porter moved to Eagle Grove in 1960 where they resided until his last illness. He had been a patient in Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, five days and passed away there on Thursday evening, August 10, having reached the age of 78 years, 5 months and 16 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Glen Austin Porter, Jr., one sister and three brothers. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mary Elsie; three sons: Emil of Calexico, Calif.; Russell of Cincinnati, Ohio; Francis of Eagle Grove; three daughters: (Mildred) Mrs. Floyd Blomker of Rutland; (Alice) Mrs. Harold Larson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and (Shirley) Mrs. Miles Benda of Tempe, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, August 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, with Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiating. Interment was held in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
