February 19, 1928 ---- October 16, 1990

Richard L. Clabaugh, 62, Stanhope, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 19, at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Church in Stanhope, Rev. Richard Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City is after 7 p.m. tonight, until 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Richard LeRoy Clabaugh, son of LeRoy and Leona (Wills) Clabaugh, was born Feb. 19, 1928 on a farm north of Stanhope. He attended rural schools and Stanhope schools. He married Janet Strain on March 8, 1947 in Stanhope. The couple resided in Stanhope, and Mr. Clabaugh was employed as a truck driver for Hove Truck Line. He was later employed by Ringsby Truck Line of Colorado, until 1960, when he was employed by Percival Manufacturing Co. in Boone. He retired in the mid-1980s, due to a physical disability. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 17, 1968.

He is survived by three sons, Douglas Clabaugh, Des Moines; Jeffrey Clabaugh, Eagle Grove; and Charles Clabaugh, Stanhope; five grandchildren, Michael, Keith, Kelly, David and Amy Clabaugh; his mother, Leona Clabaugh, residing at the Stratford Care Center; two sisters, Darlene (Mrs. Donald) Berry, Woolstock, and Lorene (Mrs. Ben) Franklin, Boone. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father.
