January 3, 1928 ---- June 17, 1968

Mrs. Richard L. Clabaugh, 40, a longtime resident of the Stanhope community, died Monday evening at the Hamilton County hospital after an illness of the past year and one-half. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Christian church in Stanhope with the Rev. Stanley Mahannah of Des Moines officiating. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.

Janet Marion Strain, daughter of Jesse G. and Nellie Strain, was born Jan. 3, 1928 at Eagle Grove. She attended elementary schools at Eagle Grove, later attending high school at Madison, Wis. and was graduated from the Woolstock high school in 1946. Following her graduation, she was employed in Webster City at the city hall. She was united in marriage March 8, 1947, to Richard L. Clabaugh and the couple had always since resided at Stanhope.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Douglas Richard, Jeffrey Alan and Charles Lee Clabaugh, all at home; three sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Arlo (Phyllis) McGowan of Livermore, Mrs. Milton (Maxine) Helgesen, Madison, Wis., Mrs. Ray (Jean) Thomas, Huntsville, Ala., John Strain, Madison, Wis., Allan Strain, Eagle Grove, Milton Strain, Seattle, Wash., George Strain, Kirkland, Wash., and Jack Strain, Seattle, Wash., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Clabaugh was a member of the Christian church of Stanhope.
