Dudley Blesie, retired area farmer, dies

PETERSON, MN -- Dudley R. Blesie, 77, of Nevada, Iowa, and a retired Peterson-area farmer, died Sunday (Feb. 16, 1992) in Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Born June 16, 1914, in Renwick, Iowa, he graduated from Renwick High School in 1931. After attending Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, he taught in Wright County, Iowa, schools for five years before beginning operation of a dairy farm in Humboldt County, Iowa. He farmed there until 1952, when he moved to rural Peterson. He had lived in Nevada since moving there from Peterson after his retirement in 1982.

He married Helen M. Hefti on May 8, 1938. She died Jan. 4, 1981. On Jan. 15, 1982, he and Helen A. Sorenson were married in Nevada. Mr. Blesie was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and was a former member of Arendahl Lutheran Church where he held several church offices. He was a former leader of the Arendahl Hi-Flyers 4-H Club, served on the Rushford Creamery Board, was a member of the Rushford Saddle Club and the Sons of Norway, and was a 40-year member of the Holstein-Friesian Association of America.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Willa Ree Holger of Ames, Iowa; two granddaughters; and two sisters, Aurilla McKenna of Hardy, Iowa, and Maxine Kuehnast of Lanesboro. A brother and two sons preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday in Arendahl Lutheran Church in rural Peterson. Burial will be in Arendahl Cemetery in Peterson. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada.
