March 20, 1944 --- March 6, 2017

Edward M. Hembree, was born March 20, 1944, in Hayward, Alameda County, California. He was the son of Erley Le Roy and Helen Lovern (Platt) Hembree. He attended Alameda area schools and later served in the United State Army during the Viet Nam War. Spending parts of his military tenure in the middle of the conflict over seas. He was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Tech. Sergeant on December 18, 1969.

Upon returning to civilian life, Ed had been employed in various occupations including owning and operating his own welding business, working as an electrician for P, G & E Electric for many years, and then most recently as an Apartment and Maintenance Manager at a multi- family complex in California from 1988-2005, when he moved with his wife and their children to Belmond, IA, where he has been retired since moving due to health concerns.

Ed was united in marriage to Karen Jones and the couple had a daughter, Shelly Bennett and her two children, Destine and Josh Shewmaker, currently all residing in Sacramento, CA. Edward and Karen were divorced after a number of years together. He later married Lynne Forester, his current life partner and wife of over 31 years at Lake Tahoe on January 26, 1988. Their union was blessed with daughters, Tabitha and Lena, a son Eddie, and a stepson Mike Forester.

Edward enjoyed times with his family and grandchildren, occasional trips to the casino, old westerns and war movies, especially ones that John Wayne starred in, classic outlaw country music such as Johnny Cash, Waylon and Willie. He enjoyed guns and camping, but most certainly one of his favorite hobbies was fishing.

His life will be remembered by his wife, Lynne Hembree, Belmond, IA; daughter Tabitha Hembree and her children Bentley and Braxton; and his son Eddie Hembree and his children Jordyn and Jessa and Eddie's fiancée, Meri Sallee, all of Belmond, IA; a daughter Lena Hembree, Nora Springs, IA; and a step-son Mike Forester and his son Ian Forester, of Belmond, IA. Also surviving is his brother Donnie and his wife Clare Harvey, Salt Lake City, UT. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Helen Douglas. Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, IA.

BELMOND -- Edward Max Hembree, age 72, of Belmond, IA, formerly of California, died Monday, March 6, 2017, at his home in Belmond, IA, following a courageous battle with many health issues. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Andrews Funeral Home, 516 First St. S.E., Belmond, IA. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the services. Pastor Patrick Kennedy of the Belmond Evangelical Free Church will be officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Belmond Military Unit. Memorials or other expressions of sympathy my be directed in care of the family to 213 Third St. N.E., Belmond, IA 50421.
