May 28, 1961 ---- March 5, 2017

Tracy LeRoy Erickson (Bull), the son of LeRoy G. and Susan B (Haviland) Erickson, was born on May 28, 1961, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised in Eagle Grove and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1979. On December 16, 1989, Tracy was united in marriage to Peggy Spitler in Reno, Nevada; Tracy has lived in the community of Eagle Grove his entire life.

Tracy was a passionate man who lived to farm. He worked as the Operator of the family farm operation working many years with his father LeRoy, and brother, Monte. As a young man he spent some time working construction with B&E Construction and Equimco Construction of Eagle Grove. He was also known to lend a hand working for his brother, Jared Erickson, of M&J Construction, if his services were needed. Alongside farming, Tracy also built hog feeder bins for Miller Grain Systems for 17 years. He was quite the handyman and could fix or repair much of his own machinery. Tracy was a man of few words, but his actions spoke louder than words. He always made an effort to help yearly with the Share Christmas program in Eagle Grove, and supported local Girl Scouts by purchasing cookies annually. One thing many may or may not know about Tracy is that he had a terrible sweet tooth; he loved all kinds of sweet treats and candy--especially Snickers, despite being a diabetic. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with family, checking the fields, reading Tractor House magazine, and drinking coffee with the guys at Arnold Motor Supply and Gold Eagle Co-Op. But most of all, his favorite pastime was spending time with his only granddaughter, Rheagan--who he enjoyed spoiling with attention.

Tracy was extremely loving and proud of his two children, Chelsey (Erickson) Axtell and husband Tim, and Trent Erickson. But the most important person to him was his wife and best friend, Peggy; the two would have been married for 28 years in December.

Tracy was a 35 year survivor of Colon Cancer. In the past few years he had been suffering from radiation disease, the result of the cancer treatments from years ago. He had recently undergone surgery to remove scar tissue buildup from the radiation and fix other complications with his digestive system. Tracy passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Mayo Clinic-Methodist Hospital, he was 55.

Tracy was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, brothers-in-law Bill Bertran, and Mike Spitler. Survivors include: his wife, Peggy Erickson of Eagle Grove; children: Chelsey (Erickson) Axtell (Tim) of Polk City, Trent Erickson of Eagle Grove; granddaughter, Rheagan Axtell; parents, LeRoy and Susan Erickson of Eagle Grove; siblings: Monte Erickson (Melody) of Eagle Grove, Marcy Bertran of Webster City, Loree Ellis (Ronnie) of Colorado Springs, CO, Jill Erickson (David Schaefer) of Altoona, Jared Erickson (Kayla) of Collins; as well as his loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, March 10 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorial will be on Saturday, 10:30 am at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.
