Evelyn C. Harken, 76 of Alexander, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton. She was born in Mason City, Iowa, on August 28, 1940, to Clara Meinders Harken and Thomas Harken. Evelyn graduated from Franklin Consolidated in 1959. Evelyn continued to work on the family farm and was a coordinator for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). Evelyn coordinated, planned, and arranged many trips throughout the United States. She was able to visit 48 states. Evelyn also enjoyed reading and spending time in her flower beds. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother, sister in law, nephew, and several other family members. Evelyn is survived by her nieces, Monica (Dave) Stauffer; Mynet (Bruce) Anderson; great nieces Richelle (Nathan) Taylor; Courtney Anderson; and great nephews Brett Stauffer; Tanner Anderson; and JoAnn (Gary-Deceased) Harken and many other relatives.
