LaVerne E. “Junior” Ott, 90, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion. Funeral services for LaVerne “Junior” Ott will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

LaVerne Emery Ott was born on June 17, 1926 to Emery and Medella (Olson) Ott in Boxholm, Iowa. The family moved to Dayton when he was in the third grade. He was confirmed at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton and graduated from Dayton High School in 1944. Following high school, he helped his dad on the farm raising cattle and hogs. Junior later moved to Clarion, where he met Mildred Cramer while driving taxi. They were married on August 3, 1952. To this union, three children were born; Dan, Bob, and Linda.

Junior worked for Dan Groves Construction, Toft Sand and Gravel, and then for the DOT Bridge Crew, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed his many trips to Florida with Millie and relaxing at the cabin on Lake Cornelia for a short time.

Junior is survived by his children Dan Ott, Bob (Kim) Ott, and Linda (Scott) McCormick all of Clarion; grandson Pat McCormick and his girlfriend Nikki Middleton and her children Addie, Hutch and Nevi; grandson Jimmy (Beth) Ott and their children Carson and Boone; granddaughter Katie (Carlos) Rivera and their children Ramon, Johnny and Wyatt; granddaughter Jerri (Ott) Linn and her children Mason and Jordyn; nephew Jason (Lorelei) Ott; and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Millie, great-granddaughter Payton Millie Ott, and sisters Velma, Corrine, and Darlene, and brother Carroll. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
