Evelyn “Evie” Virginia Cross Knight Kraemer passed away Friday January 27, 2017 at the age of 87 at Methodist Hospital surrounded by her family. Preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Clara Cross, first husband James Knight, and sons Barry and Bradley. Survived by sons, Stephen (Jean), Bruce (Mary) and Jeffrey (Lisa) Knight; stepdaughter Sandy; grandchildren, Erika, Thomas and Laura; James Richard, Elizabeth; Brad and Sam Knight, Amy, Eric, Kelly and Jason (Katie) Butler and eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Vi Pimper.

Evie was born on September 26, 1929 to parents Adam and Clara (Jostes) Cross at Pawnee, Illinois. She was the youngest of seven siblings (Harold, Everett, Mervin, Ethel, Lucille and Vi). When she was in preschool the family moved to Galt, Iowa, and later they moved to Goldfield, Iowa. Evelyn graduated from Goldfield High School with straight A’s and received a full ride scholarship from Iowa State Teacher’s College (now the University of Northern Iowa). She graduated in May 1949 and received her Kindergarten – Primary Education teacher’s certificate. She married her high school sweetheart, James “Jim” Bradley Knight also of Goldfield and together they had five boys, Barry (who died at the age of 2 of Polio), Stephen, Bruce, Jeffrey and Bradley (who died at birth). Evelyn was widowed in 1968 when Jim died at the age of 40. In 1970 Evelyn remarried Arnum “Bud” Kraemer. Bud and Evie were happily married until Bud passed away on Sunday March 17, 2013.

Evie was loved by all who knew her. She was known for her strong spirit, kindness to all and strong faith in her lord. She enjoyed camping, playing golf and playing bridge with her friends. She loved wildlife and bird watching, watching Minnesota Twins baseball and Minnesota Gophers sports. Evie was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church from June 1953 until her death and treasured the church and its members. In her lifetime Evie faced many personal hardships and fought through them all with her indomitable spirit and strong faith.

Visitation will be from 10-11 AM Saturday February 4, 2017 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in St. Louis Park [Minnesota] with memorial service following from 11-12 PM. Memorials preferred to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or donor's preference.
