Leone Paine was born to Mabel Kennedy Paine and Raymond Paine of Goldfield, Iowa, on June 2, 1911. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Goldfield, attended school in the Evergreen community, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1928. Later she attended college in Eagle Grove and Aberdeen, S.D. She was united in marriage to Charles Santee in January 1936. To this union three children were born, Anita (Mrs. Lester Pratt), Earl of Prophetstown and Wayne of Menomonie, Wisc. Leone made her hcme in the rural area of Erie and Prophetstown except for a few years that they farmed in Richland Center, Wisc., She taught school for several years both prior to her marriage and for a time after that. She was active in the Methodist Church of Prophetstown [Illinois]. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; a sister, Pauline; and her brother, Donald Paine. Survivors include three children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a brother, Lynn Paine of Temple City, Calif., Ellen Elkin of Eagle Grove, and her half-sister, Marilyn Joenks of Greenville, stepmother Georgia Oppedahl of Renwick.
