Leslie D. Ainger, 66, Eagle Grove
Leslie Duane Ainger, the son of Francis and Donna (Mason) Ainger, was born April 27, 1950, in Belmond, Iowa. He graduated from Belmond High School with the Class of 1968. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church. On June 30, 1973, he was united in marriage to Barbara Knutson in Belmond. Les and Barb were blessed with two children. Les was employed at several different businesses including Winnebago, Joe’s Skelly, Tex Willet, Knutson Ready Mix, and Ainger Trucking. Les was very talented with his hands, fixing and repairing broken items. He built the house he was currently living in, completing most of the work himself. Les enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, snowmobiles, and motorcycles. His love was his green 1969 Roadrunner that he restored. He also enjoyed having his four grandchildren visit. Les never missed a chance to stop and visit with his many acquaintances. Les passed away on January 2, 2017, at home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 66 years. He had fought breast cancer for nearly five years. Les was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Kermit and June Knutson. Les is survived by his wife, Barb; daughter, Aubrey Behrends (Nathan) of Wellsville, Kansas; and son, Anthony, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; grandchildren, Noah, Amelia, Levi, and Natalie Behrends; brothers, John (Marcia) of Pepperell, Mass., and Jeff of Belmond; and sister, Kathi Goeman (David) of Belmond. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove, at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorials may be given to KJYL Christian Radio or Grace Evangelical Free Church.
