Rites Held for Mrs. E. Nelson

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Morgan Nelson, 81, widow of the late George Henry Nelson, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lillian Ackerman, on south Commercial at 5:45 Saturday morning, were held at the Wilson funeral chapel Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, her pastor. Rev. J. R. Tumbleson, officiating. Burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery. The father, the Rev. J. P. Morgan, a native of Wales, brought his wife and family to what is now the Monroe Newcomb farm from Peekskill, N.Y., in 1869. He was a Methodist lay preacher and lived to the advanced age of 107. Mrs. Nelson was married to her husband in 1874 and with the exception of a few years spent at Iowa Falls their married life was spent in Eagle Grove and close vicinity. She was a charter member of the local Methodist church. Seven brothers fought in the Civil War. She is survived by her two daughters Mrs. Lillian Ackerman of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Vinney Shippey of Maywood, III. and three sons, Harry Nelson of Eagle Grove, Joseph Nelson of Renville, Minn, and David Nelson of The Dells, Wis. There are 24 grandchildren.
