Richard J. Moenck, age 73, of rural Lehigh, died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Washington Township Cemetery in Duncombe. The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Richard is survived by his children, Sheila Moenck, New Brighton, MN; Keith Moenck, Harcourt; Barbara. (Jerry) Clabaugh, Duncombe, Darrell Moenck, Lehigh; four grandchildren, Chad, Tina, Levi, and Melody, two great-grandchildren, Paige and Austin, three brothers, Donald, Fort Dodge, Harold, Caledonia, MN, and John, Washington, IA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma on December 28, 2004; daughter, Shirley, his parents, Rudolph and Zelda (Gustafson) Moenck; and two brothers Max and Robert.

Richard James Moenck was born April 10, 1933 on a farm west of Duncombe, IA. He attended school and graduated from the Duncombe High School in 1950. On August 29, 1950, he was united in marriage to Wilma Ekstrom at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived in the Duncombe and Lehigh area where Richard farmed. From 1969 until 2005, Richard was the Washington Township Clerk. In 1976, Richard started beekeeping and established the family business, Moenck Honey Farms. Richard was a member of the Duncombe United Methodist Church. He is also Past President and a board member of Farmers Co-op Elevator of Duncombe, and N.E.W Co-op. In 1988, he was President of the Iowa Honey Producers. He was a past member of the National Honey Board Nominating Committee. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
