Lulu M. Hotz, daughter of George and Mary Thompson, was born February 25, 1889 at Earlville, Illinois, and died at the Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge, on September 2, 1952, having reached the age of 63 years, 6 months and 7 days. Her early childhood was spent on a farm near Thor, Iowa. She was baptized and later confirmed at the Thor Lutheran church. Later transferring her membership to the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church.
On October 16, 1915 she married Charles Wesley Hotz and to this union six children were born, four of whom survive. In 1920 the family moved to Eagle Grove which has been her home since that time. She was preceded in death by her mother and two sons, Teddy G. and Charles L., also one brother Albert Thompson. One grandson Chas. K. Lester also preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, one daughter Delphia Mae Hotz of Hollywood, California; three sons Millard L. of Fort Dodge, Virgil D. of Eagle Grove and Albert T. Hotz of Burlington, Iowa; her father and stepmother Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson of Milbrook, Illinois, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 5 at Wilson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth R. Torvik officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
