Florence A. Jensen, age 96, of Fort Dodge, IA passed away Thu, Nov 17, 2016 in Baton Rouge, LA.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Fri, Dec 2, 2016 at Gunderson Funeral Home followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thu, Dec 1, 2016, at Gunderson's.

She is survived by her son, Leslie Jensen of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Ruth Freeman of Corona, CA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Crotts; and brother, David Prelip. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Jensen; parents Arthur and Oda (Andreasen) Prelip; daughters, Judy McCaffery and Marlene Lange; brother, Floyd Prelip; sisters, Bernice McMurray and Doris Grant; and granddaughter, Maureen (Bobbi) McCaffery.

Florence was born on March 6, 1920 in Kanawha, IA. She attended high school there and moved to Fort Dodge in 1936. Florence and Melvin were married on June 9, 1939 in Lehigh, IA. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, crafting rugs and shirts (Comfy Wear by Flo), quilting with Melvin, holding rummage sales, and researching family genealogy. She received Jesus as Savior at age 52. She cared for Melvin during his lengthy final illness. At the age of 87 she visited Israel. She was a member of local churches over the years and loved interacting with people. In lieu of flowers, memorials are left to individual discretion.
