Alvin B. Thompson, 77, was born February 23, 1939 in Eagle Grove, IA and was raised around Renwick, Humboldt and Fort Dodge, IA. On November 13, 2016, Alvin’s guardian angels came to take him home where he will be joining his father and mother, Earl and Dorothy Thompson, brothers, Don Thompson, Jerry Thompson and Denny Thompson along with niece, Brenda Laing and nephew, Mike Thompson. His wife, Dolores Meinhardt Irwin Thompson, Topeka, KS, will deeply miss him. Alvin had and treasured many good times and memories with his brothers and sisters, his son, Duane Thompson and family, and niece, Marcia Thompson.

Some of his hobbies were gardening and canning tomatoes, cooking, hunting, fishing, boating and travel where he visited many of the Caribbean Islands. He visited the island of Aruba eleven times. He loved and enjoyed his two rat terriers, Missy and Molly. He loved country music and has read many country western fiction books.

Surviving brothers and sisters are Gary (Gin) Thompson, Coralville, IA, Sidney (Kathy) Thompson, New Knoxville, OH, Earlene Metzger, Fort Dodge, IA, Joann (Virgil) Habben, Albert City, IA, Gloria (Darrell) Jackson, Pocahontas, IA, Joyce (Larry) Day, Fairmont, MN, Deb (Fred) Fridolfson, Humboldt, IA, Karen (Mel) Balsley, Forest City, IA, four children, Pam (Bill) Hendershot, West Des Moines, IA, Duane (Rose) Thompson, Sheboygan, WI, Mark (Sally) Thompson, Ankeny, IA, and Kevin (Erin) Thompson, Fort Dodge, IA, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Alvin’s Life will be held in Topeka, KS and at Fairmont, MN at later dates. Memorials made be given to the Topeka Humane Society.
