Kanawha Man Dies Of Injuries; Lucas Was In Head-on Crash

Kanawha - C. C. Lucas, 61, Kanawha insurance man who was injured late Wednesday when his car and one driven by Mrs. Gerhard Krauss of Corwith collided head-on, died Friday night at 6 o'clock at the Lutheran hospital at Hampton. Mrs. Krauss was reported to be recovering at the hospital, following the removal of an eye which was injured in the accident.

Lucas who suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries, had lived in and near Kanawha most of his life. He moved to a Kanawha farm as a small child. Then he operated the Klemme Lumber company here and in 1908 became vice president of the bank, which position he held until 1933. He since was in the insurance business and a month ago was honored at a banquet in Hotel Hanford, Mason City.

Surviving Lucas are his wife and a daughter, Maxine; one brother, Burt Lucas of Lewiston, Mont.; five sisters, Mrs. P. G. Degan of Big Timber, Mont., Mrs. Henry Gramley of Lewiston, Mrs. H. H. Fritz of Clarion, Mrs. L. G. Baker of Algona and Mrs. H. H. Stewart of Kanawha.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the M. E. church of Kanawha.
