September 7, 1929 ---- October 27, 2016
Beverly E. Aichele was born on September 7, 1929 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Frank and Mary Johnson Copp. Beverly passed away on October 27, 2016 at her home in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 87 years. Beverly was raised and attended schools in Iowa. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1947 and treasured her friendships from there.
She visited family in Oregon and met a young man, Loyd Aichele. Beverly returned to Oregon after graduation and the romance grew. Beverly was united in marriage to Loyd A. Aichele on July 25, 1949 in Pasco, Washington. She worked at the Umatilla Army Depot while Loyd was in the service for two years during the Korean War. When Loyd returned home Beverly became a full time homemaker, raising their son Terry and daughter Debra. She was very supportive of her children, always there for sporting events, music performances, and school activities. Beverly enjoyed music, dancing, animals, sewing, reading, and watching movies and sports, and visiting with friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hermiston, Oregon and a five year survivor of breast cancer. She had also survived colon cancer.
While Beverly and Loyd were raising their children their yard became a favorite place for neighborhood children to come and play. Even after their children had grown, several generations of children would come to look at the big tree and ask to play basketball. She would put everyone else’s needs before hers. When a family member suffered major medical issues she would take on the important tasks even as she was facing medical problems herself. She knew how to reach out to people, love people and help them succeed.
Beverly loved all of the holidays. The gathering of loved ones at Christmas and Thanksgiving then the glorious fireworks on the 4th of July. One of Beverly’s favorite hobbies was collecting turtle figurines. When the internet came along she liked to watch webcams streaming video from places like Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, Nassau in the Bahamas and other exotic locations.
She was a proud Democrat and was so proud of the fact that Hillary Clinton was running for President of the United States. Beverly was a peacemaker, a lover, a dreamer. She will always be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Beverly's family wants to thank deeply the medical staff at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Washington and the people who worked with her at Kadlec Palliative Care and Vange John Memorial Hospice in order to make her wish to pass away in her home of sixty-three years possible.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years: Loyd Aichele, Hermiston, OR; son: Terry Aichele, Hermiston, OR; daughter: Debra Morris, Las Vegas, NV; brother: James Copp; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Mary, Elnora, Franklin, and Alvin.
