Jerald Duane Hoesel, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 22, 2016, at Hope West.
He was born on April 20, 1941 in New Salem, ND to Herbert and Clara (Kramer) Hoesel. He was raised on a dairy and grain farm in Western ND and graduated from New Salem High School in 1959. He received accounting and finance degrees from Bismarck Junior College, University of North Dakota and University of Colorado-Denver. His career included public accounting at Arthur Young CO, as well as 33 years at Gates Rubber Company where he retired in 1998 as Vice President – Controller. He and Genevieve (Jenny) Weir were married on July 26, 1964 in Clarion, IA. They lived in Lakewood, CO, where they raised their two sons. He enjoyed hiking Colorado’s highest peaks, tennis, biking, gardening and his orchard, collecting wild animal figurines, jigsaw puzzles, investing in the stock market and being with his grandchildren. After retiring, he and Jenny moved to Grand Junction, CO where they traveled regularly and tended a small orchard and vegetable garden, giving most of the produce to food banks and soup kitchens in the area, as well as to friends. Their travels took them to all 50 states in the U.S., as well as through most of Europe and Canada.He is survived by his wife, Jenny; two sons, Mark (Cindy) of Edmond, OK and Darin (Gina) of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Jaden, Gabriel, Isabel, Scarlett, Ava and Jacob; two brothers, Edgar (Esther) and Norbert (Betty); one sister, Darlene (Allyn) Lennie; and brother-in-law, Dick Henke, all of New Salem, as well as Jenny’s family members. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Lorraine Henke.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Services include private burial at Palisade Cemetery with a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church, 3940 27 ˝ Road, Grand Junction, CO 81506, on November 7, 2016 at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
