Nicholas Philip Bauman, the son of Nicholas G. and Elizabeth M. Maier Bauman, was born on a farm, near Eagle Grove, Iowa on February 9,1919. He grew up on the family farm and received his education in the rural schools of the Eagle Grove-Woolstock area. On October 12, 1940, he was united in marriage with Marcella A. Wilcox, at the Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home on a farm near Clarion and later moved to a farm near Woolstock, where he was employed by the DeForest Poultry Farm for several years. In 1950, the family moved to Eagle Grove and he was employed at the DeForest Hatchery. Later, he became a member of the custodial staff of the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove and he retired in 1981. While employed at the home, he became a special friend of the residents and enjoyed helping the older people. He was a long-time member of the Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove.

He died early Thursday morning, Dec. 26, 1985, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, after suffering a heart attack. He attained the age of 66 years, 10 months and 17 days.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella A. Bauman of Eagle Grove; three sons, Dennis Bauman of Roland, Iowa; Leo Bauman of Minneapolis; Eugene Bauman of Ankeny; his daughters-in-law, Marlene Bauman of Roland and Dolores Bauman of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren, Troy, Todd, Tricia, Andrea, Aaron, Lindsey and Chad Bauman; a sister, Marian, Mrs. Eugene Berg of Eagle Grove; two brothers, Donald and Roger Bauman, both of Woolstock and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Nicholas Bauman, 66, of Eagle Grove, were held on Saturday, Dec. 28, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Fr. John Herzog, church pastor and Rev. Fr. David Wright, officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Rosary services were held on Friday at 7:30 pm. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
