Louise Dorothea Erlander, 72, of Eagle Grove, died on Monday, July 9. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial at Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Survivors include her husband, Dr. John Erlander; son, James, Goldfield; and daughter, Jonna Lu Erlander, Sanibel, Fla.

Louise Dorthea Anderson was born February 25, 1918, the daughter of Earl and Carrie Whyte Anderson, at Goldfield. She attended Golfield High School graduating in 1935. Following high school, she enrolled in Grinnell College, Grinnell, and graduated in 1939. Upon completion of her college education, Louise taught at the Vinton School for the Blind at Vinton. She enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942. She was later accepted to Officers Training School at Harvard University. She then served as disbursing officer stationed in Atlantic City, N.J., and Oxford, Ohio. She received her honorable discharge in 1945. After her discharge, she taught in the Goldfield school system for a period of one year. On January 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Dr. John Erlander of Eagle Grove, at her parents' home in Goldfield. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove; Federated Women's Club; and the A.A.U.W. She also served as a Girl Scout leader, and was a past president of the Iowa Optometrist Auxiliary.

Louise Erlander died at St. Peter Community Hospital, St. Peter, Minn., on July 8, 1990, at the age of 72 years, four months, and 13 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one infant son, John Michael. She is survived by her husband, Eagle Grove; one son, James, Goldfield; and one daughter, Jonna Lu of Sanibel Island, Fla.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on July 11 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, with the Rev. Lyle Peters officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. The Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
