Richard L. Larson, 79, of Albany [Oregon] died Wednesday at the Mennonite Home. He was born in Goldfield, Iowa, to Edward and Millie (Anderson) Larson. He served in the Army during World War II. He moved in 1937 to Puyallup, Wash. He later lived in Seattle and worked for Boeing until 1967, when he moved to Kailua, Hawaii. On May 23, 1964, he married Lillian Cook in Seattle. He moved to Albany in 1980 and owned Dick's Downtown Texaco and managed the Hazelwood Apartments. He also worked part-time for the Albany School District for a couple of years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Albany.
He is survived by his wife; son Richard of Graham, N.C.; daughters Catherine Thompson of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, Barbara Villaruel of Albany and Catharine AhYou of Kaneohe, Hawaii; brothers Edward of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert of Las Vegas; sister Marilyn Winterton of Federal Way, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday at First Assembly of God in Albany. Private burial was in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Pastor Curtis Myers officiated. Memorial contributions can be made to The Healing Rooms in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, OR 97321.
