BELMOND, IA — Larry R. Hansen, age 79, of Belmond, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at his home in Belmond. Funeral service for Larry R. Hansen will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at the Belmond United Methodist Church in Belmond. Pastor Leila Blackburn will officiate. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation for Larry R. Hansen will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond.

Larry Raymond, son of Harold and Lillian (Larson) Hansen, was born on March 5, 1937, on his grandparents’ farm near Humboldt. He graduated from High School in Eagle Grove, IA, and then joined the US Navy. He returned home after 4 years and then was united in marriage to Vicki Musselman of Belmond, IA, on June 23, 1961. Together they had three children: Kimberly, Lon, and Debra. Larry was later married to Deb Maggart of Big Falls, MN, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, IA.

Larry worked at Central Soya in maintenance for 38 years before he retired. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. His family and friends were important to him and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his three children, Kimberly Ausborn (and special friend Jody) of Belmond, Lon (Sara) Hansen of Souderton, PA, Debra Sorensen of Urbandale; son-in-law Chris Sorensen of Dexter; six grandchildren, Amanda, Eric (fiancée Sara), Rachel, Nicole, Anthony, and Ashley; one great-grandchild KyleeJo; sister Beverly Wise; nephew Bernard Wise; two aunts, one uncle, and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Lillian; infant brother Daryl; and two wives, Vicki and Deborah.
