July 25, 1950 ------ October 3, 2016

Bonnie Lynn Ficken passed away at 9:25 P.M on October 3rd, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Bonnie passed peacefully after a brief, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bonnie spent her last days with her family by her side after a fun filled summer of time spent fishing, four wheeling, blueberry picking, cooking for family, good conversation, and making lots of memories

Bonnie was born on July 25th, 1950 to her parents Lavonne and Victor Christenson in Clarion, Iowa, later relocating to Twin Falls, Idaho where she met her husband of 43 years, Mike Ficken SR. Bonnie and Mike settled in the Blue Earth, MN area where Bonnie worked as a nursing assistant while raising their two children Michael JR. and Kimberly. Bonnie and Mike retired in 2006 moving to Grand Marais, MN where they enjoyed the great outdoors and many new friends. Bonnie loved Grand Marais and living in their home with Mike and her dog Panda. Bonnie worked part-time at Beth’s Fudge Shop where she enjoyed time meeting new people and helping people find that perfect gift or tasty piece of fudge.

Bonnie enjoyed everything outdoors and had a special passion for hunting and fishing. Bonnie and her family spent much of their time on the lake fishing or in the woods on the hunt. Bonnie also enjoyed picking blueberries, four wheeling, taking photos, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family, friends, and dogs.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Lavonne and Victor, Infant son Alan Michael, Aunt Lois Simonson, Niece Michelle Brodigan, and beloved dog Dolly. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 43 years Michael Ficken SR., Son, Michael JR. (Jennifer), Daughter Kim Manley (Jason) Granddaughter Alicia Ficken, Sister Elaine Woodruff, extended family and many friends.

A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held on Monday October 10th, 2016 at 1:00PM, Trail Center Lodge; 7611 Gunflint Trail Grand Marais, MN 55604. Dinner will be served. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bonnie Ficken’s memorial fund at the Grand Marais State Bank 211 East Hwy 61, PO Box 100, Grand Marais, MN 55604
