Funeral services for Eva R. Caruth, 74, Stratford were held Tuesday, September 20th at Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford. Rev. Richard Russell conducted the 1:30 pm service. Interment was held in Graceland Cemetery at Webster City.
Mrs. Caruth passed away Friday evening, Sept. 16, at the Stratford Care Center where she had resided for the past two months. During the service Marvin D. Johnson sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden" accompanied by Ardelle Phipps. Bearers were Clark Conklin, James Haman, Loren Scott, Warren Scott, Lyle Seiser and Wade Seiser.
Eva R. Griffith was both on March 11, 1909 at Goldfield. She attended the Goldfield schools. In 1925 she married Floyd E. Martin. The couple resided in Lamoni and later in Webster City. Eva married Ernest C. Caruth in 1944. The couple made their home in Williams, and later moved to Stratford. Mr. Caruth passed away in 1968. For several years Eva was employed by the Stratford Mutual Telephone Company. Eva was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church at Stratford, American Legion Auxiliary and Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Cecil Martin, Kountze, Texas; daughters, Mrs. George (Betty) Anderson, Laurens; Mrs. Francis (Sharon) Hoshaw, Stratford; stepson, Ernest T. Caruth, Kennewick, Wash.; stepdaughter, Mrs. Henry (Lois) Clifton, Security, Colo; 12 grandchildren; five step- grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and a brother, Wayne Griffith, Omaha, Ark.
