Last rites for Mrs. Jean M. James today
Mrs. Jean M. James, 93, died at her home in Eagle Grove on Sunday evening after an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning (today) at 10:30 a.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Reiter, pastor of the United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Ed James, died several months ago. The James were prominent Wright County residents.

Jean Marie James, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Brown Hawkins, was born on Dec. 27, 1888 at Dakota City, Iowa. She grew up and received her education in the Dakota City area. On Dec. 27, 1906, she was united in marriage with Edward M. James of Humboldt, Iowa. The couple made their first home on a farm west of Eagle Grove. A year later, they moved to the James farm south of Eagle Grove, where they lived together until April of 1981 when Mr. James died. She continued to live in the James farm home a few months and then moved to her present home in Eagle Grove. She died at her home on Sunday evening, Dec. 5, 1982, at the age of 93 years, 11 months and eight days. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and two brothers. Funeral services for Mrs. Jean M. James, were held on Wednesday. Dec. 8, 1982 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Kenneth R. Reiter, pastor of the United Church of Christ officiated and the burial was in the family lot at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
