Hayward, CA -- Duane A. Samuels was born December 5, 1925 and passed away August 26, 2016 in Hayward, CA. His parents were Glenn R. and Vivian Gangstead Samuels. He graduated from High School in Goldfield, Iowa in 1943. He served on the U.S.S. OTTAWA AKA-101 from 1943 to 1945. He owned the Coast to Coast Hardware store in Fairway Park from 1970 to 1990. Duane is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marian and their three children: Sydney (Leland) Myers, Scott (Heidi) Samuels and Lisa (Jeff) Chadwick. He has 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and a sister, Marjory (John) Elm. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Samuels, sister Lois Fellows & brother Gene. No services are planned at his request. Donations may be made to your favorite charity.
