Services for George Goodsell

Funeral services for George Goodsell were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Eyler Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ernest C. Allen conducting the service. Burial was at the Clarion Evergreen cemetery. George Augustus Goodsell, the son of Franklin and Emma Goodsell, was born August 26, 1878 and passed away at Clarion, Iowa, on October 16, 1963 at the age of 85 years. He was born in Meriden, Minnesota and lived there until he went to Waltham, Minnesota in 1902 where he worked as a buttermaker. He was united in marriage to Emma C. Badenschier in 1904. They moved to Rowan, Iowa, in 1906 where he worked as buttermaker until coming to Clarion, Iowa, in 1910. Here he worked for the Chicago Great Western railroad as boilermaker until the age of 62 years, when he had to retire on account of ill health. He was survived by his wife, Emma, and daughter, Helen, Mrs. Charlie Besendorf of Frost, Minn., two grand daughters, Pamela Smith Anderson of Denver, Colorado and Andrea Smith Rickabaugh of Des Moines, and two great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
