Mrs. Ruth Emaline Comstock, age 85, of Versailles, [Missouri] formerly of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday morning, December 2, 1986, at the Laurie Nursing Home. She was born September 20, 1901 in Rock Island County, Illinois, the daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Katie Ann Johnson Martin. She was united in marriage on October 17, 1938 with Clyde Raymond Comstock, who preceded her in death on December 17, 1971. Mrs. Comstock and her husband, Clyde lived in Iowa from 1950 until 1964, and her husband served as mayor of the City of Eagle Grove. Mrs. Comstock was a retired beauty operator and a poet. She was a member of the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie. She is survived by one step-daughter, Mrs. Germaine Bartholow of Independence, Mo., two brothers, Robert Leroy Martin of Sunrise Beach and Darrel Arthur Anderson of Mt. Rest, S.C.; two step-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 11 am. Friday, Dec. 5,1986 at the Buckner Cemetery in Buckner, Mo., with the Rev. Susan Chinnery officiating. Interment followed, with arrangements under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
