Mrs. Meyer, 79, Dies in City
Mrs. Bertha E. Meyer, 79, longtime resident of this community, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient since Oct. 9. She had been in failing health for several years. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Foster funeral home preceded by a brief service at 1:30 at the family home, 1017 Second street. The Rev. M. E. Suhr will officiate, with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Bertha Elizabeth Larson, daughter of Lars and Elizabeth Larson, was born Jan. 8, 1874, on a farm near Duncombe. She was educated and reared in that community. Later the family moved to a farm in Wall Lake township, Wright county. She was united in marriage to John H. Meyer. Mr. and Mrs. Meyer farmed in Wright county for many years, retiring in 1926, moving into Webster City, the family home since. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and four brothers. She is survived by three daughters and four sons: Mrs. J. (Mayme) Ballantine of Webster City; Mrs. John (Pearl) Luppes of Blairsburg; Mrs. Glen (Mabel) Finch of Clarion; John W. Meyer of Burnside, Iowa; Henry M. Meyer of Galt; Ira Meyer of Clarion and Ralph Meyer of Blairsburg; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Martin Larson of Fairfield, Mont., and Mrs. Ida Gaffey of Fort Dodge. Mrs. Meyer was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Duncombe. A friendly, neighborly woman, Mrs. Meyer was known as a kind and loving wife and mother whose main interests in life were her home and family.
