Coyle D. Field Buried Monday

Coyle D. Field, 45, died in the Veterans Hospital at Des Moines, Sept. 12, 1946. He was the son of Mrs. G. H. Sherman of Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home with the Rev. Clarence W. Tompkins in charge. The singers at the funeral were Mrs. Ethel Shoenhair and Mrs. E. C. Johnson. Military honors were accorded by the American Legion. Interment was in Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield.

Coyle D. Field was born at Goldfield, Iowa, Dec. 7, 1900. He attended the public schools at Goldfield and was a graduate of a Waterloo high school. He was a faithful Sunday School attendant, having a record of not missing Sunday School for 12 years. Prior to his fatal illness he was employed as a truck driver for Mr. Gus Sherman of this city. He lived at home until he went with the Douglas Aircraft plant at Santa Monica, Calif. He enlisted in the U. S. Army, Oct. 10, 1942 and received an honorable discharge on March 17, 1943 at the Roswell, New Mexico, army flying field, with an excellent rating. He passed away at the U. S. Veteran's Hospital at Des Moines, Thursday, Sept. 12. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Sherman and several uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives.
