Henry E. Shriver, 61, of Eagle Grove, lost his courageous battle with ALS, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
Henry Emil Shriver IV, the son of Henry G. and Lucile (Zbytovsky) Shriver, was born on March 25, 1955, in Tyler, MN. He was raised on his family's Dairy Farm – where he learned hard work, dedication and how to live off the land. He was educated in Marshall, MN where he graduated from Marshall High School in 1973. Henry had a love of motorcycles and attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally since 1973 – 42 years!
On June 20, 1992, Henry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ann Powell. Together they made their home in Eagle Grove, where the dirt is good for growin`!!! Henry was an owner/operator truck driver – he began driving for Umthun Trucking in Eagle Grove in 1977 and retired from IMT in Garner in 2015. After retiring, he enjoyed listening to piano lessons taught by Ann.
Henry received the "Contractor Of The Year" award in 2006 for business 2005 and received a brand new 2007 International Truck. He was also recognized many times for his service and caring of others, never passing up a stranded motorist or someone in need of help. Henry was also a member of the Iowa Road Team.
Henry is survived by his wife, Ann Shriver of Eagle Grove; son, Henry Clint Shriver V and wife Sarah and their children, Henry Matthew Shriver VI and Madyson of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Katrina Breya and husband Brett and their daughter, Korbyn of Newhall; daughter, Lindsey Shriver (Wade Williams) of Marengo; son, Louis Shriver of Eagle Grove; sisters: Doris Huber and husband Richard of Ghent, MN, Pat Shriver of Ghent, MN and Rose Shriver of Mineral Point, WI; brother, Steve Shriver and wife Lisa of Lincolnton, NC; brothers-in-law: Charlie Powell of Eagle Grove, Joe Powell of Eagle Grove and Rick Powell of Woolstock; sisters-in-law, Marcy Powell of Davenport and Dawn Powell of Falls Church, VA and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents and brothers-in-law, Kevin and Brian Powell.
Memorials may be left to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, United Methodist Church or the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
