Walter J. Mickelson, 77, died Sunday at the Simpson Health Care Center of Friendship Haven. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, and daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Jeff Buske, of Denver, Colo. Mickelson was born Aug. 25, 1936, in a farm home near Cadott, Wis., to Mabel and Ed Mickelson. A brother, Robert, and sister, Clarice Brink, live in Wisconsin; his parents and a brother, Lu Verne, are deceased. He served in the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean War, stationed on the DMZ while working in communications. He was a skilled printer, bowled well and loved to travel.

Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Gunderson's Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. That will be followed by a memorial supper at 1200 A Street West, his brother and sister-in-law's home.

Memorial services for Walter J. Mickelson, 77, formerly of Cadott and Chippewa Falls, will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel on the Roger Mickelson farm, 19092 County Highway J. Walter was born Aug. 25, 1936, on a farm near Cadott, to Mabel and Ed Mickelson. He died March 16, 2014, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he has lived since 2001. He is survived by: his wife, Sandy; and daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Jeff Buske, of Denver, Colo.; also by his brother, Robert (Judy), of Appleton, and sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Don Brink, of Medford. His parents and a brother, Lu Verne “Ozzie” are deceased.
