Ralph Emerson LaBarr

October 1, 1884 --– February 1, 1978

Funeral services for Ralph E. LaBarr, 94, of Clarion were held on Saturday afternoon, February 4, 1978 at the Eyler Funeral Home with Rev. Myron Brockmeyer of the United Methodist Church officiating. The organist was Mrs. Brockmeyer and a duet was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tourtelotte. Casket bearers were Dennis Polson, Roger Wepel, Merle Brigger, Merle Poolman, Bernard Scheppler and Merle Paulson. Military honors were given by the American Legion at Evergreen Cemetery.

Ralph LaBarr was born on October 1, 1883 at Webster City and was the son of Phillip and Emma Wade LaBarr. He served in World War #1 with the Army. On August 1, 1918 he was married to Cecil Norton at the home of her parents at Galt. They farmed during the early years of their marriage, and he worked at digging tile ditches. He drove a bus for the Clarion Community School, and since 1964 they have lived in Clarion.

Mr. LaBarr is survived by his wife, four daughters: Mrs. Joseph (Lorene) Maier of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Gale (Irene) Poulson of Clarion, Mrs. Howard (Emma) Wray of Clarion and Mrs. Lester (Phyllis) Reines of Miami, Florida and one son, Ralph L. of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and
two brothers, Harry of Belmond and Clair of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. For over sixty years he was a member of the Clarion American Legion and also a member of the United Methodist Church.
