Mrs. Sunniva Hanson, 91, died Monday morning at the Rotary Ann Home. She had been in failing health for some time and was an infirmary patient. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in charge of the Rev. H. W. Schiller, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Hanson is survived by four children: sons, Dr. Kermit Hanson of Seattle, Wash.; Robert Hanson, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Miss Helen Hanson of El Paso, Tex. and Mrs. Alvin Theilig, Eagle Grove. Other survivors are eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, three sisters, Misses Aagot Borge, Anna Borge and Dagny Borge all of Alhambra, Calif. Mrs. Hanson's husband Gerhard died in 1963 and in 1970 she moved to Rotary Ann Home.
Mrs. Sunniva Borge Hanson was born July 15, 1884 in a log cabin in Dakota Territory near Brookings, South Dakota. Her parents were Pastor Michael and Aagot Fosmark Borge. At the age of four she moved with her parents to a country parish near Decorah. She attended Luther Normal School, Sioux Falls, S. D., and taught school at Fairfax, Minn, and at Thor. On February 21, 1907 she married Gerhard S. Hanson of Eagle Grove at Decorah. They farmed for 35 years southwest of Eagle Grove before moving to town in 1942. Her husband preceded her in death in 1963. She is survived by two sons, Robert of Eagle Grove and Kermit of Seattle, Wash. and by two daughters, Helen of El Paso, Tex., and Aagot, Mrs. Alvin Theilig, by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and by three sisters.
She was a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church for 57 years where she was active until health failed and was a past president of the Ladies Aid. She was a charter member of Troy Culture Club and was a former member of the Equality Club. She lived at Rotary Ann Home since 1970. Funeral services were held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church by Herbert W. Schiller, Pastor, Wednesday, October 15, with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery
