Selle Matilde Romseland was born June 24, 1867, near Stavanger, Norway, and passed away from this life at her home in Eagle Grove, March, 27, 1939, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 3 days. She was baptized unto Christ, received instruction and confessed the Christian faith in the Skjold church near Stavanger, Norway.
On the 20th day of June, 1888, she was united in marriage to Eric Knutson. Mr. Knutson came to America that same year to Fullerton, Neb., and in 1890 Mrs. Knutson joined him. They lived at Fullerton a couple of years, then moved to Jewell, Iowa, and in 1900 they came to Eagle Grove, which has since been their home.
She is now survived by her husband, and by three girls and six boys, viz: Mrs. Hannah Strom, Mrs. Tillie Bard and Mrs. Ruby Lerdal and by Tandrup, Emil, Conrad, Madel, Swardrup and Selmer Knutson. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and by two sisters, Mrs. Thea Langeland and Mrs. Anne Westre, and by a large number of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Knutson was an active lady, interested in her duties as housewife and mother. She was kind and good natured, a sympathetic wife and mother, and a good neighbor. Her family especially will miss her and her aged husband will be at a great loss without her. She was an active member of the church all her life.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon, March 30 from the home and from the church. Burial will be in the family lot.
