Sherry McNichols, 75, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday at Iles-Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center. Cremation will follow visitation and private inurnment will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter.

Sherry was born August 21, 1940, in Woolstock, Iowa, to Kenneth and Beulah (Tudor) Severson. She married Gary McNichols in 1961 and they made their home in Waukee where they raised their two children. Sherry worked as a secretary at the Waukee Schools for ten years and later as office manager for TPI Plumbing for 17 years, retiring in 2005. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sherry looked forward to spending winters in Arizona with family.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gary McNichols, son, Mike (Brooke) McNichols of Bouton, IA and daughter, Michele (Doug) Bailey of Adel, IA; four grandchildren, Cheyenne (Cody) Sage (and coming great-grandson Baby Sage), Cassady (Evan) McNichols, and Sullivan and Sheridyn Bailey; six siblings, Karen (Pat) O'Brien, Dean (Becky) Severson, Patty (Dave) Morgan, Tim (Jan) Edmondson, Pam (Bob) Shippy and Lori (Doug) Severson; She was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother Darline.

Contributions may be made to the family for a memorial to be determined later.
