Marjorie Ruth Rasmussen, the daughter of Roy and Mabel Odland Rasmussen, was born August 8, 1922, in Britt, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, Iowa, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1940. She was united in marriage with Raymond Sampson of Eagle Grove on June 1, 1944, at her parents farm home in Clarion, Iowa. The couple made their home in the Eagle Grove area except for five years when they lived in Hampton, Iowa, and she worked for B. W. Grocery. She also worked for Consumer's Grocer in Eagle Grove; Paul's Pay "N” Take It; Kramersmeier Drug; Dr. Patterson's Denistry; and the Fareway Grocery Store. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Eagle Grove.

Marjorie R. Sampson died Sunday, October 21, 2001, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 79.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Sampson, Eagle Grove; an aunt and uncle, Irvin and Mabel Odland, Eagle Grove; and a sister-in-law, Vicey Rasmussen, Clarion. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leo Rasmussen; and one sister, Rose Umstead.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, with Reverend William E. Ballard officiating. Burial was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
