MASON CITY - Gerald M. Shoafstall, 65, of Mason City, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Open Bible Church, 609 S. Eighth St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Gerald Shoafstall Memorial Fund.

Jerry was born Aug. 27, 1950, the son of Bea (Bogue) Shoafstall in Hampton. He married Patricia Ruchotzke on Aug. 28, 2011, in Klemme. Jerry grew up and attended school in Iowa Falls. He was a United States Marine veteran and attended welding trade school. He was a maintenance supervisor for several years, truck driver and waterproofed basements.

Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching movies and attending plays at the Mason City Community Theatre. He liked traveling to San Antonio to see the Alamo and Winterset to see the Birthplace of John Wayne Museum. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed taking nature walks, and loved spending time with family and grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Pat Shoafstall of Mason City; eight children, Terry (Karie) Shoafstall of Mason City, Brandon (Angie) Shoafstall of Des Moines, Kevin Price and his spouse of Algona, Dawn Porter of Dows, Cindy (Dan) Savolt of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Steven J. O'Hara, Jr. of Leland, Iowa, Melissa O'Hara of Omaha, and Margaret (Charles) Pennington of Garner; 24 grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Osterman of Iowa Falls; a brother, Gary Shoafstall of Iowa Falls, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bea Shoafstall; grandparents, Leo and Luella Ellison; a nephew, Willy Alverson; and a brother-in-law, Sonny Osterman.
