Sela Dell Varland Cibelius was born May 21, 1923 in Belmond, Iowa to Orville and SeDell Varland. She died peacefully on June 16, 2016 in Puyallup, WA. Sela moved with her family to Rockford, IL in 1929. She graduated from Rockford East High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College. In 1945 Sela married Charles A. Cibelius, Jr. They raised 3 daughters together: Carol Collins of Puyallup, WA; Mary Cibelius (Jeff Flodin) of Chicago; and Kathryn Oglevie (David) of Chelan, WA. Sela was an active volunteer as a school room mother, Girl Scout leader and Pink Lady at Rockford Hospital. She was a member of Rockford Women's Club, The Faithful Workers' Circle of King's Daughters, Century Club of Rockford, IL, and was an avid bridge player.

In addition to her daughters, Sela is survived by grandson Peter Collins (Rachel) and great-grandchildren Ella, Charlie and Oscar Collins. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 57 years, parents and siblings Orville Varland, Jr., Markeson Varland and Joan Jensen. At Sela's request there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to the Activities Program at Siena on Brendenwood, 4444 Brendenwood Road, Rockford, IL.
