Daniel V. McLaughlin, age 50, of Clear Lake and Belmond passed away Friday May 27, 2016 at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. Mass of christian burial for Daniel V. McLaughlin will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday June 3, 2016 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. Rev. Jerry Blake will officiate. Burial will take place in the St Francis Cemetery east of Belmond. Visitation for Daniel V. McLaughlin will be held from 9:30 A.M. Friday until service-time at the church. The family desires memorials be made in Daniel V. McLaughlin's name to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake and/or the donor's choice.

Daniel Vernon McLaughlin, the son of Judy (Gordon) and Vernon McLaughlin Jr, was born April 16, 1966 in Belmond, Iowa. He attended the Belmond School System until he turned 21. Danny lived at home until the age of 28, when he moved to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, Iowa. He resided at Opportunity Village for 22 years. He loved it there. The Staff always took great care of Dan.

He loved country music, racing, Dallas Cowboys, all star wrestling and money. His favorite times were his birthday, Christmas and when his best friend and Cousin Ron would visit. His Mom and Dad would faithfully visit the village weekly, which usually meant a trip to Wendy’s. His best buddy in life was his Dad. From the beginning to the end his Dad was by his side. In the end when his memory was failing him, he always knew when his Dad was there.

Left to cherish his memory are; his Father Vernon McLaughlin Jr. Belmond, his sisters Mindy (Gregg) Gunderson, Lake Park, Ia and Leslie (Scott) Weisbrook, Torrance Ca, nephew Connor Gunderson and his nieces Macy Gunderson and Amber and Avery Weisbrook and his Aunts and Uncles. He was preceded in death by his Mom, Judy, and grandparents.
