Greg Nettifee was born July 17, 1958 to Wilbert and Donna (Bell) Nettifee in Mason City, Iowa. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1977. He was united in marriage to Karen Sue Waters on May 20, 1978 at the Christian Church in Nora Springs. To this union two boys were born, Eric and Jeremy. Greg was member of the Church of Christ in Clear Lake and was attending the Temple Baptist Church in Mason City.

Greg and Karen resided in Kanawha, Garner and most recently in Mason City. He worked at Winnebago Industries and welded for thirteen years at Kiefer Built until his health declined and he went on kidney dialysis in 1999. In November 2000, the day after thanksgiving, he received his kidney transplant which lasted for fourteen years. He had worked various jobs in those years. In 2014, he once again went on dialysis due to kidney failure and was waiting to get back on the transplant list. Greg was an avid Hawkeye fan and also followed the 49’ers. He collected sports cards and enjoyed fishing with his family. Of all his interests, his family was important to him and he admired his two grandsons.

Greg is survived by his wife, Karen, of 38 years; two sons, Eric Nettifee (Shaada), Jeremy Nettifee (Kathy Hallman); two grandsons, Riley Nettifee and Hunter Lamfers, all of Mason City, Iowa; two brothers, Dennis Nettifee, of Clear Lake, and Rick Nettifee (Diann), of Crete, NE; along with numerous family and friends. The family would like to thank the Dialysis Unit and Mercy Hospital for caring for Greg.
